Material Care Guide
BlankedStudios objects are built to live on surfaces and used. Gradual patina is expected and loved, however proper care will extend the life of your object to be passed down for generations.
Anodized Silver Aluminum
Anodized silver aluminum is lightweight, durable, and intentionally restrained. Minor tonal variation is inherent to the anodizing process.
- Wipe with a soft cloth using water or mild pH-neutral soap
- Dry immediately to avoid streaking or residue
- Avoid abrasives, solvents, and harsh cleaners
Subtle patina and surface marks will develop with use and we encrouage embracing such imperfections.

Anodized Black Aluminum

Anodized black aluminum is finished to a deep matte black. Durable yet designed to be handled, not preserved.
- Clean with a soft cloth lightly dampened with water
- Dry thoroughly after cleaning
- Avoid chemicals, oils, and abrasives
Friction and oils may shift sheen over time, these are normal and we encourage embracing these signs of use.
Stoneware (Black Glaze)
High-fired stoneware glazed in black. Each piece carries subtle variation across surface and tone.
- Dishwasher safe up to 70°C
- Handwashing recommended for longevity
- Avoid citrus-based or abrasive cleaners
Avoid rapid temperature changes. Minor glaze irregularities are intentional.

Anodized Aluminum (Heat-Exposed / Oil Diffuser)
This aluminum is engineered for controlled heat exposure. Thermal interaction is part of the object’s function.
- Allow to cool fully before cleaning
- Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth
- Never clean while warm or submerged
Heat will cause permanent tonal shifts and darkening.

Black Walnut

Black walnut is hand selected for depth, grain, and warmth. No two pieces are identical.
- Dust with a dry cloth
- Use a slightly damp cloth for light cleaning
- Avoid chemicals and standing moisture
- If desired, apply natural wood oil or hard wax oil 1–2× per year
Walnut will darken and mellow over time.
Aluminum with Black Walnut
Industrial precision meets organic variation. Each surface should be treated independently.
- Clean aluminum and wood separately
- Avoid moisture accumulation at seams
- Dry thoroughly after cleaning
Materials age at different rates. Contrast deepens over time.

Concrete

Concrete is hand cast, surface variation and small air pockets are inherent.
- Clean with warm water and a soft cloth
- Blot spills immediately
- Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners
Concrete will mark and darken with time. This is normal and we encourage embracing these imperfections.
